To hunger and thirst. It seems I long to be filled...not filled with the things of the world or the things that I know do not satisfy; but with the things of God, and not even those things but truly God Himself. I truly desire to see Him face to face, to know Him, to understand Him, to just be able to grab ahold of Him and sit in awe, sit in gaze, and be.
I know in Him all things are seen, all things are created, all things make sense. I desire to sit in that, I hunger and thirst for Him and my intentions is to be filled, to be one with Him internally and externally. To inhabit His presence while at the same time being full of Him. I just want ALL of Him.
The good news is that I CAN. I can... He made a way, He truly made a way and not just a little sliver of a pie but the whole pie...breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack, and dessert...the whole pie! It's funny to compare God to food but He compared himself to food so I'm going to embrace it...cause who doesn't love to eat! One thing we can see over and over in His word is that He longs to nourish us, feed us, and fill us!
The Spring of Salvation
As I was reading in Isaiah 12:
The Lord Is My Strength and My Song
1 You will say in that day:“I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me,your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation;I will trust, and will not be afraid;for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
3 With joy you will draw water from the springs of salvation.
4 And you will say in that day:“Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.
5 Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;let this be made known in all the earth.
6 Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”
With joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation! In my hunger and thirst, I believed this must be the answer to how to be fulfilled. It is with joy that I can draw water from the spring of salvation.
What does this spring of salvation consist of?
What's in the Water?!
As we all know salvation comes through the source: Jesus. Jesus is the source of living water, through Him we are able to drink freely and without restraint.
The spring of salvation is never ending, it's eternal and never runs out. It is the well that keeps on giving and giving and giving. It's available for the bucket loads to be brought in to quench and it never runs dry. It is what gives thirst to the thirsty soul, what gives life to the dry bones, what one desires to sit in, drink from, and be filled with. This spring nourishes us today with these immeasurable eternal life giving nutrients.
Water : Eternal life (Satisfaction)
John 4:13–14 (Jesus to the woman at the well) –“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
When Jesus offers you “living water” in John 4, He’s not just talking about a refreshing moment. He’s talking about something eternal, unshakable, and deeply personal. He’s saying:
“I can quench the thirst in your soul that nothing else ever could.”
There's a satisfaction that is met when we drink the water of eternal life. It is a continual awareness of knowing the troubles before us, within us, and around us are temporary. The satisfaction is complete knowing this day is a needle in a haystack compared to eternity and we can rejoice and be glad eternity is for us today but also where we will always be! We were created in eternity and for eternity by God — we do not have to be restless in this life but can continual drink and be filled with God's eternal supply of eternal life.
Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” – John 17:3
Eternal life starts the moment you say yes to Him. It’s not just length of life — it’s a new kind of life:
A life filled with peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances.
A life where you are forgiven, fully known, and fully loved.
A life where God is your Father, not just a distant power.
A life that overflows with meaning and hope even in suffering.
Water : The Holy Spirit
He gave you the Holy Spirit — not just a helper for hard days, but a living presence flowing inside of you like a spring that never runs dry.
Jesus said,
“Whoever believes in Me... rivers of living water will flow from within them.” – John 7:38
This is a never ending eternal spring that literally allows rivers of living water to flow from you!
Jesus didn’t say “drops” or “a trickle” — He said RIVERS. That means overflowing, unstoppable, continual. The Spirit isn’t given sparingly — He fills believers generously.
“He poured out His Spirit generously…” – Titus 3:6
These waters don’t stay contained inside us. The Holy Spirit fills you — not just for you, but to overflow through you:
In love, joy, and peace (Galatians 5:22)
In power for witness (Acts 1:8)
In wisdom, comfort, and encouragement for others
In spiritual gifts and service
So you are a eternal walking stream that not only holds love, joy, peace, power, wisdom, comfort, encouragement, spiritual gifts and service; but you are also pouring it out for others, giving nutrients and living water to others!
If we could truly grasp and embrace this, this stream is undending and eternal, you are a channel of His life to a dry, thirsty world! Not to mention...to ourselves when we are dry and thirsty! Drink of what is given generously and never runs out!
Water : Cleansing & Renewal
To grasp that you are truly forgiven, that you are washed and there is not a speck or blemish on you or in you is life changing. It allows you to breathe, be, and embrace. There's no walls, no protection, no proving, no reservations, no processing... just being. We were bought with a high price, all that is eternal and never ending, all of heaven's investment was invested in you through Jesus.
You don’t have to earn God’s cleansing — Jesus already paid for it in full. The moment He cried out on the cross, “It is finished,” the debt of sin was canceled. The barrier was torn down. The stain was washed clean.
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us… through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”– Titus 3:4–5
Your cleansing isn’t based on how sorry you feel or how hard you try to do better — it’s based on what Jesus already accomplished.
You were:
Washed in His blood (Revelation 1:5)
Forgiven completely (Colossians 2:13–14)
Made new (2 Corinthians 5:17)
And here’s the joy: you get to live in that freedom every day.You don’t have to wallow in guilt or try to make up for the past — you can wake up each morning and say,
“Because of Jesus, I am clean. I am new. I am loved.”
Let His mercy wash continually wash over you, not to make you worthy — but to remind you that in Him, you already are. This is a neverending well that is thier to drink daily! It is not bitter or sorrowful, it is sweet, nutritious, and living giving!
Water : Word of God
In a world full of noise, opinions, and constant change, God’s Word is a steady, refreshing stream. It never runs dry. It never fades. And it always speaks.
“The word of our God will stand forever.” – Isaiah 40:8
When you open your Bible, you’re not just reading ancient words — you’re drawing water from a living well that flows from heaven and is eternal. God speaks through Scripture:
To remind you of who He is.
To reveal truth when the world is unclear.
To refresh your spirit when you’re dry.
To root you when life feels shaky.
Even just a verse or two, meditated on and prayed through, can become like a deep drink for your soul.
So don’t wait until you feel “spiritual enough.” His word was given for you personally to drink from! God's word will transform you life daily. Expect to hear His voice — because He always honors His Word.
Water : God’s Presence & Life
Life at times feels dry — like you’re walking through a desert. You may wonder, “Where is God in all of this?” And yet, right in the middle of your hardest places, His presence is a river still flowing.
“The river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” – Revelation 22:1
His presence isn’t just in a church service or a mountain-top moment — it’s in your ordinary days, your quiet prayers, your tears, your laughter. He’s closer than your next breath.
He doesn’t run away when you struggle or leave you to figure it out. He doesn’t grow weary of you. In fact, He delights to dwell with you, to embrace you, to continually fill you, and remind you He is a never ending well of living water drawn for you from the cup of His hands for your nourishment and drinking!
Conclusion
In drinking of all of these nutrients, although it brings satisfaction, I still hunger and thirst for Him. The well is deep and wide and never ending. It was created to continually give life over and over and over again. Although is it searchable, there is a never ending search for more of Him. Although it quenchable, it leaves you wanting more. Although it is fullfilling, it leaves you desiring to continally be filled. This spring of salvation is a continual drawing of what our soul needs, what we were created for, our sole identity and very purpose of our make up as God's children. The very things that connects us to God and leads us to Him.
The world is filled with superficial distractions and unfulfilled satisfaction. The understanding and confidence knowing we can draw living water from the spring of salvation reminds us that true fulfillment lies within connection to God and recieving all of who He is and what He has freely given for us to have!
“The river of the water of life... flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
– Revelation 22:1
